The sun shone, the wind was light, Strathmore golf course was in very good condition, the company was great as was the food- in fact it was a perfect day for our summer/winter league outing.

Dorothy and Mae were the worthy Greensome winners with Pat and Alison the runners-up. Margret won the Stableford competition with 34 points with Jackie a close runner-up with 33 (BIH). 2nd equal with 33 points also were Heather and Lesley.

Nearest the pin- well, sad to say none of the Silver players managed this but Joyce won in the bronze section.

Message from Helen Weavers University of Dundee

Thanks for such a warm reception last night and a group who listened
well! Also thanks very much for the flowers and chocolates, you
certainly didn't need to do that but it was very nice of you.

As for doing some sort of sessions with members of the group who are
interested, I had a couple of ideas.

1. 4 workshop sessions with a different focus (e.g., warm up/flexibility,
diet, strength) for one hour per week.

2. 4 practical "class" type sessions focussing mainly on strength and
flexibility but progressing each week.

These sessions would run for 1 hour and the total cost would be £40 per
person with a minimum of 8 people. I would hope to start them the week
beginning the 11th April for 2 sessions then I am away the week
beginning the 25th (but homework would be provided!) and the finishing
with a final 2 sessions after that. I obviously would need to sort out
facilities and also what would be the best time/day for you.

I will put a notice up in the club and if you are interested in either of these ideas please sign up - and look out golf course for the new fit ladies of Downfield.

THE RED CROSS WINTER ECLECTIC

A message from Norma:
You have been very good popping lots of cash into the slot as you pass by but, as this wee note says, we must have a big push to the end of March to keep up our good reputation.
The Red Cross Eclectic Golf Comp in Scotland made a magnificent £7,000 last season. Money has gone to support the Red Cross in Haiti where they distributed simple cooking sets to families to let them cook for themselves; They also handed out unconditional cash grants per household to buy cooking pots and basic food which help the local markets get going again. In Pakistan, aid workers travelled many miles on mules and on foot to deliver relief items to those trapped by the devastating floods. Red Cross have many local volunteers so are often first on the scene. They helped also in Scotland’s big freeze-up, people stranded on roads and in airports. Isn’t it good to know our contributions are well used?

Yes, that time has come. The event the ladies look forward to all year. Our Winter League Outing is this Monday 19th July at Alyth Golf Club. The first group will be tee-ing off just after 1pm so please come along about 11.45 for your bacon roll and tea/coffee and to find out your tee time.

We hope all this horrible rain and wind will have disappeared by then and the sun will shine for us like last year.
